A ball mill also known as pebble mill or tumbling mill is a milling machine that consists of a hallow cylinder containing balls; mounted on a metallic frame such that it can be rotated along its longitudinal axis. The balls which could be of different diameter occupy 30 – 50 % of the mill volume and its size depends on the feed and mill size.

Ball milling different chemicals - posted in Newbie Questions: Hi Are there any chemicals, other than metals(Al,Mg etc) that a noob should not ball mill? I have made myself some Bismuth Trioxide, Copper(II) Oxide, Copper Carbonate, Strontium Nitrate and Barium Nitrate to name a few. Are all these ok to Ball Mill relatively safely?
Posted 14 July 2010 - 12:58 PM. If the sulfur is pellatized, it has clay in it, usually 10%. You can dissolve them and take off the sulfur or grind them but use and extra 10% to make up for the binder. I will grind the charcoal with the sulfur separately if I am particualrly unsure of my surroundings for ball milling and just screen them ...

Since the balls basically come in one size, and I haven't measured them, they are about 3" diameter. There are sources for small milling balls for milling pigments and small batches in small ball mills i.e. bench-top mills. Balls wear down and smaller (worn) balls can be found on the market or discarded around old mill sites.

Can A Ball Mill Turn Too Fast Yahoo Answers. May 28 2013 Can a ball mill turn too fast Best Answer A ball mill works because the balls roll up the side of the can and fall on the material you are crushing At that speed the balls would stay on the side of the can and never crush anything 60 rpm would be a place to start I think that this question violates the Community Guidelines …
Besides materials synthesis, high-energy ball milling is a way of modifying the conditions in which chemical reactions usually take place either by changing the reactivity of as-milled solids (mechanical activation — increasing reaction rates, lowering reaction temperature of the ground powders)—or by inducing chemical reactions during milling (mechanochemistry).
Cement milling Question 1 Page 1 of 26 Cement milling Question 1 Recently, we have changed the grinding balls in the second chamber of our mill to a lower size balls The effect is a 10 per cent of reducing in fineness at the discharge of the mill, therefore the efficiency of our separator is better, but we were waiting for an increase in the production, nevertheless it is the …
